A vehicle fire on the M2 Londonbound between Junctions 2 and 3 led to a swift response by Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent Police in the early hours of Sunday, 18 May 2025.
The emergency call came in at 02:20am, with fire crews rushing to the scene where a vehicle was ablaze on the motorway near Medway.
Crews Extinguish Blaze Using Main Jets
Two fire engines were deployed to the scene. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire using main hose jets.
All occupants of the vehicle were safely out before the fire service arrived. No injuries were reported, and emergency responders worked efficiently to manage the incident.
Kent Police Close Two Lanes for Safety
Kent Police assisted in securing the scene by temporarily closing two lanes of the M2 Londonbound to ensure the safety of road users and emergency crews. The incident was fully resolved by 08:56am.
