The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has launched a new QR code service designed to make it faster and easier for motorists to share their driving licence information securely with third parties.
The feature is now available to those who have signed up for a Driver and Vehicles account, offering a convenient way to share details with car hire companies, insurance providers, and other approved organisations.
Once registered, users can generate a unique QR code through their account, which provides a quick and secure method to instantly share driving licence details without the need to print or manually input information.
A spokesperson for DVLA said:
“This is the latest step in our ongoing efforts to modernise our services and make life easier for drivers. The QR code system ensures driving licence information can be shared quickly, securely, and with minimal hassle.”
The QR code service is part of a broader digital upgrade to DVLA services, with Driver and Vehicles account users already benefitting from additional features such as receiving vehicle tax reminders by email or text, reducing reliance on traditional postal notifications.
The DVLA encourages drivers across the UK to register for an account to access this and other convenient digital services aimed at improving accessibility and streamlining administrative processes.
