MAGISTRATES SLAM Drunk Driver Turns Up Boozy to Own Sentencing, Court Halts Hearing

A man set for sentencing after driving nearly four times over the drink-drive limit shocked magistrates by turning up to court drunk – forcing them to call off the hearing.

Magistrates Slam Horner for Boozing on the Day of Sentencing

Neil Horner, 49, was due before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court for drink-driving sentencing. But officials stopped the session after concluding he was too worse for wear to proceed.

Jan Routledge, chair of the bench, warned Horner: “We don’t feel you understand what’s been going on here, because you’ve been drinking.”

She ordered him back sober by 9:30am on 12 December, warning, “If you turn up drunk next time, you will be held in contempt of court.”

Horner’s Shocking Driving Offence

  • Horner admitted driving a blue Mitsubishi in Shanklin while nearly four times the legal alcohol limit.
  • Breath analysis revealed 128 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath; the legal limit is 35.
  • He also pleaded guilty to assaulting two people on the same day in July.
  • Horner is banned from entering a local nursing home.

With Horner’s antics putting the court on edge, the saga is far from over. Watch this space for the next twist in his boozy courtroom drama.
