A driver’s attempt to avoid having their luxury vehicle seized backfired after they insulted officers during a roadside stop.

Police said the motorist, who was caught driving a “rather swanky” car without valid insurance or road tax, resorted to calling officers derogatory names while pleading for leniency.

Despite their protests, the vehicle was seized on the spot and the driver was reported for the offences.

In a statement shared on social media, officers said: “Top tip: Calling us ?’s whilst begging us not to seize your rather swanky car that hasn’t got insurance or tax isn’t going to help you! Vehicle seized and the driver reported✌?.”

Police have reminded motorists that driving without insurance and tax is illegal and will be dealt with robustly.
