Tributes have been paid to a Huddersfield man who tragically died after his car crashed into a wall outside a pub and flipped onto its roof. Chad Matheson, 21, was driving a black Mercedes A180 when the collision occurred outside The Sovereign pub in Shepley shortly after 9.30pm on 6 July, according to West Yorkshire Police.
Mr. Matheson was taken to the hospital following the crash but sadly passed away on Friday. His parents described him as a person with a “heart of gold” in a heartfelt statement.
“He was so loving, caring, and honest, but a little crazy and this made him unique,” they said. Our family is devastated at his passing; however, we remain strong, and his memories are keeping us going.
The incident reportedly involved the Mercedes colliding with two vehicles parked in the pub car park before crashing into the wall.
West Yorkshire Police are continuing their investigation into the crash and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in obtaining any “relevant CCTV or dashcam footage” that could help with their inquiries.
