Two people have tragically died and two others have been left seriously injured following a devastating early morning car crash in Chelmsford.
Emergency services were called shortly after 3am on Sunday (March 23) after two cars collided on B1007 Stock Road, near junction 16 of the A12. The crash involved a blue BMW 3 Series, which was found wrecked near a roundabout, with debris scattered across the road and onto a nearby grassy area.
Two Men Declared Dead at the Scene
A driver in his 30s and a passenger in his 50s were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. Essex Police confirmed that both victims’ families have been informed and are now receiving support from specially trained officers.
Aerial images show the BMW 3 Series mangled with its front end completely destroyed, while a second vehicle involved in the crash was pictured in the centre of the roundabout, surrounded by debris.
Two Others Taken to Hospital
Two other men were also injured in the crash and rushed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Police have not confirmed whether they were passengers or drivers in the vehicles involved.
Investigation Ongoing, Road Closed
The road remains closed to traffic as police forensic teams continue their investigation into the cause of the crash.
An Essex Police spokesperson said:
"We would ask the public to avoid the area while we continue with this work at the scene. As we piece together what led to this tragic incident, we particularly want to hear from anyone who may have seen a blue BMW 3 Series in the early hours of 23 March."
