In a shocking incident that unfolded earlier today, a delivery driver was assaulted and had his van stolen on Thirlmere Road in Lancaster. The robbery occurred around 13.30 BST this afternoon. Authorities are now appealing to the public for any information that may help identify the assailant and locate the stolen vehicle.
The stolen van is described as a white Ford Transit van with the registration HV71 VFL. It is important to note that the van was carrying several parcels that were intended for delivery.
Fortunately, the delivery driver did not sustain any physical injuries during the incident but was left understandably shocked by the ordeal. Police are treating the incident as a high priority and have launched an investigation into the matter.
According to eyewitnesses, the offender is described as a stocky white man with a shiny face. He was seen wearing a black or navy-blue puffer jacket at the time of the robbery. Detective Inspector Adie Knowles, from Lancaster CID, expressed concern over the distressing incident and the impact it had on the driver. He stated, “We are carrying out a number of enquiries and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who sees a van or the suspect matching this description to get in touch urgently.” He also encouraged anyone with CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone footage, or Ring doorbell recordings in the vicinity to come forward with any potentially useful information.
