At around 11.00am on Sunday 15 September 2024, constables in Rainham High Street saw a man driving a blue Ford Focus who was suspected of an assault. The patrol followed the car into the Tesco car park near Hoath Way, where it was involved in collisions with two other vehicles. The Ford was pursued and came to a halt in Hempstead Road. A man was arrested a short time later.
Charlie Patrick, of Silverweed Road, Chatham, was charged on the following day with dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. The 35-year-old was also charged with an assault and threats to destroy or damage property on Monday 19 August. Mr Patrick appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 September. He was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown on Tuesday 15 October.
Investigators are appealing to motorists with dashcam to check for footage that may assist their investigation.
