A large fire has broken out at a quarry near Green Street in Dartford, prompting urgent public health warnings tonight as thick smoke drifts across the surrounding area.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at 9.36pm on Monday evening, and currently has four fire engines and a bulk water carrier on site as crews work to extinguish the blaze.

People living, working, or travelling near the area are being advised to close windows and doors immediately due to the heavy smoke emanating from the scene.

There are currently no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
