A 31-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being assaulted in Dagenham this morning (Tuesday, 26 August).
Emergency Response
Police were called to Rainham Road South at 08:53hrs following reports of an assault. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service, who treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
"We were called at 8.56am today (26 August) to reports of an incident on Rainham Road South, Dagenham.
We sent an ambulance crew to the scene. We treated a man for a head injury and took him to hospital."
Arrests
Two men were arrested shortly after the incident:

A 38-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, robbery, and failing to provide a breath test.

A 48-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and robbery.
Both remain in police custody.
Police Appeal
Detectives from the Met are urging witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson said:
"Enquiries into the circumstances continue. Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 2236/26August."
