A woman has died after being struck by a moped in Hammersmith on Friday evening.
Police were called to King Street, W6, at around 17:40hrs following reports of a collision between a moped and a bicycle.
Victim pronounced dead at the scene
Emergency services attended and found the cyclist, a woman in her 40s, with critical injuries. Despite the best efforts of London Ambulance Service paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed.
Moped rider fled
The rider of the moped left the scene on foot before police arrived. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Roads and Transport Policing Command are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace them.
Appeal for witnesses
Road closures remain in place along King Street while specialist collision investigators examine the scene.
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“We are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area, to come forward. Your information could be vital in tracing the rider involved and establishing exactly what happened.”
