A man has died and another has been rushed to hospital following a serious collision between a car and a cyclist on Creek Road, which has been closed in both directions this evening between Deptford and Greenwich.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 4.07pm on Monday (June 30), where paramedics and advanced responders from the London Ambulance Service found two injured men at the scene.
Despite their best efforts, one man was pronounced dead, while a second man was transported to hospital with injuries. His current condition is unknown.
Emergency Response
In a statement, a London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed:
“We were called today (Monday 30) at 4.07pm to reports of a car in collision with a cyclist in Creek Road, SE8.
We sent resources including ambulance crews, incident response officers and advanced paramedic practitioners.
We treated two people and took one man to hospital. Sadly, despite our best efforts, a second man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Traffic and Travel Disruption
Creek Road remains closed in both directions between Glaisher Street and Norman Road.
There is severe congestion in the area as drivers are diverted away from the scene, and bus routes 188 and 199 are being diverted until further notice.
Investigation Underway
Metropolitan Police and collision investigation units are at the scene. The circumstances of the crash are being investigated, and the identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
