Connor Hobbs Named as Victim in Fatal South Molton Collision
Family pays heartfelt tribute to 22-year-old man who died in a two-vehicle crash a week before his birthday
A young man who tragically lost his life in a fatal road traffic collision near South Molton has been formally named as Connor Hobbs, aged 22.
The incident occurred at approximately 2.55pm on Monday, 12 May 2025, on an unclassified road at Kingsland Barton, near South Molton. The collision involved a black Honda Civic and a brown Scania HGV. Emergency services attended the scene, where Connor, the driver of the Honda Civic, was sadly pronounced deceased.
Family Tribute to “Our Lovely Boy”
In a moving statement, Connor’s family shared their devastation following the tragic loss just days before his 23rd birthday:
“The family and friends of Connor Hobbs are devastated by his tragic death on Monday 12 May in the collision, a week short of his 23rd birthday.
We are grateful for the loving comments and pictures that have been shared of our lovely boy who held family and friends dear to his heart.
We would politely request that we are now left alone to grieve and process the events of his death.”
Connor was from South Molton, a close-knit Devon community now mourning one of their own.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Devon and Cornwall Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing to the public for any relevant information.
“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full facts of this collision,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
