On Thursday, June 20, residents in Washington expressed concern after social media posts circulated about a man seen with a machete on Tuesday. Little Treasures Nursery, located on Blue House Lane, however, notified parents and carers via Facebook that they were implementing a lockdown due to the incident on Thursday. The nursery urged everyone to stay safe.
Police Investigation and Reassurance
Northumbria Police confirmed their awareness of the reports but clarified that there is no ongoing incident. A spokesperson stated that the posts originated from the previous evening and emphasised that there is no immediate threat. Nevertheless, police officers have increased their presence in the Lambton area to reassure residents.
