Animal rights campaigners and local residents are preparing to come together next month to raise their voices against the cruelty inflicted on wildlife through catapult attacks, a disturbing form of animal abuse that continues to plague local areas.
The protest will take place on Sunday, April 6th, at a well-known hotspot for wildlife crime, where campaigners will gather to highlight the devastating impact such attacks have on countless innocent animals.
Organisers say the event is a call to action for authorities and lawmakers to take stronger measures against those responsible for these cruel acts and to better protect vulnerable wildlife in rural and suburban communities.
“This is about speaking up for the animals who can’t speak for themselves,” said an event spokesperson. “Too many birds, squirrels, rabbits, and other animals have suffered needlessly at the hands of individuals using catapults as weapons. These attacks often go unpunished — it’s time for that to change.”
The rally aims not only to raise awareness, but also to pressure local authorities and wildlife protection agencies to increase patrols, install surveillance where needed, and push for stricter penalties for offenders.
The event is open to all members of the public who care about animal welfare and want to see tougher action taken to prevent future incidents.
Organisers are urging attendees to bring signs, wear animal welfare-themed clothing, and help amplify the message on social media using the hashtag #ProtectOurWildlife.
