A man has been jailed for three years after police uncovered 33 vials of cocaine hidden in his car during a routine stop in the City of London.
Arroyave Andres Felipe Ocampo, 28, of Charlton Road, Edmonton, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of a false ID, driving without insurance, and driving while disqualified.
The arrest followed an incident on 11 November 2024, when officers from the City of London Police stopped Ocampo’s vehicle on London Wall around 4:50pm. Checks showed he was not the registered owner and had no valid insurance.
Suspicious Behaviour Raised Red Flags
Police said Ocampo took his time to stop the vehicle and was observed attempting to delete messages on his phone as officers approached. A search of the vehicle, assisted by police dogs, led to the discovery of cocaine hidden in the driver’s side window control panel.
In total, 33 vials of cocaine and £330 in cash were seized.
Detective Constable James Crellin, from the City of London Police Criminal Investigations Department, said:
“City of London Police officers are proactively targeting offenders and we will take action to disrupt and pursue those involved in the supply of Class A drugs on the streets of London.”
“Putting these criminals behind bars removes another threat to rid the streets of this most impactful and harmful illegal activity, as we continue to actively identify, investigate and prosecute all others attempting to do the same.”
Phone Analysis Reveals Dealing Operation
Further analysis of Ocampo’s mobile phones revealed multiple postcodes, believed to be areas he was actively dealing drugs.
Ocampo was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court, where the judge highlighted the concealment method, false identification, and ongoing disqualification as aggravating factors in the case.
