Emergency services have been called to Clements Lane, Ilford, this afternoon following reports of a person experiencing a mental health crisis.
The incident, which began around 3:50pm, Wednesday, 26 March 2025, has prompted the closure of the road near Ilford town centre, with emergency personnel working to engage with the individual involved in a safe and sensitive manner.
The closure has caused significant disruption to traffic and public transport in the area, with multiple bus routes diverted as a precaution. Authorities have pulled back closures to Winston Way to allow for a controlled and secure response by police and medical professionals.
A large number of bus services have been affected, including routes:
25, 86, 123, 128, 145, 147, 150, 167, 169, 179, 364, 366, 425, 462, 667, 679, and W19.
Transport for London (TfL) has issued updated diversion details for all affected services. Drivers are also being strongly advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes due to heavy congestion.
A source from the Metropolitan Police said:
“We are currently responding to a concern for welfare on Clements Lane, Ilford. Emergency services are at the scene and engaging with the individual involved. Road closures are in place for public safety.”
Witnesses reported seeing multiple police vehicles and paramedics at the scene, with officers cordoning off sections of the road.
This is a developing story. More updates will follow as we receive additional information from the Metropolitan Police and emergency services.
