A childminder has confessed to causing the death of nine-month-old Harlow Collinge while under her care in Hapton. The incident occurred on March 1, 2022, and has left many grieving for the young life lost.
Emergency responders from the North West Ambulance Service were dispatched to a property on Mill Lane after receiving a distress call reporting that the baby was in cardiac arrest. Despite their efforts, Harlow’s injuries proved fatal, and he passed away on March 5, 2022, at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that Harlow had suffered traumatic brain injuries, which were determined to be non-accidental. The severity of these injuries led to suspicion falling on Karen Foster, the childminder responsible for his care.
Karen Foster, a 62-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm. However, following further investigation and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, she now faces a more serious charge: murder.
