A major emergency response has been launched after a child was struck by a bus outside Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (QEQM) Hospital in Margate this afternoon.
Kent Police confirmed that officers were called to Ramsgate Road just after 4pm on Thursday, 7 August 2025, following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus.
Several police cars, ambulance crews, and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as officers moved drivers away from the hospital’s main entrance and closed the surrounding roads.
Road Closures in Place
Ramsgate Road remains closed in both directions, and police are urging drivers to seek alternative routes. Access to the hospital’s car park is currently restricted.
An air ambulance was spotted landing nearby shortly after the incident, although the condition of the child has not yet been confirmed.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said:
“We were called at 4pm to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus on Ramsgate Road, Margate.
Officers are currently at the scene and the road remains closed.”
Emergency services remain in the area, and the public is advised to avoid Ramsgate Road while the incident is investigated.
