Police have released a CCTV image as part of their investigation into a spate of mobile phone thefts targeting hairdressers in the region.
Three thefts were reported in Sittingbourne on Thursday, 5 December 2024. In each case, a man entered a hair salon under the pretense of booking an appointment for his partner. While staff were distracted, mobile phones were stolen.
Later that same afternoon, a similar theft occurred at a hair salon in Strood.
Linked Incidents
Inspector Allen Searle of Kent Police said:
*”We are treating these incidents as linked, as in each case staff at the businesses had phones stolen while they were distracted by a potential customer.
“We are now issuing an image of a man who may be able to assist our enquiries and are urging anybody who recognises him to get in touch with us.”*

Anyone who recognizes the man in the released CCTV image or has any information about the thefts is urged to contact Kent Police on 01795 419119, quoting reference 46/206483/24.

Police are continuing their inquiries and have increased patrols in the affected areas to prevent further incidents.
