British Transport Police (BTP) have released a CCTV image of a woman they wish to identify following a serious assault involving a glass bottle on board a late-night train service between Brighton and Haywards Heath.
The violent incident occurred just after midnight on Tuesday, 1 July, when a fight broke out on board the service. During the altercation, a person allegedly threatened a man with a glass bottle, then smashed it and stabbed him in the chest.
Emergency Response at Haywards Heath
Paramedics and BTP officers were called to Haywards Heath Station, where two people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) at the scene but was later released without charge. Another individual was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains under investigation.
CCTV Image Released
Detectives now believe a woman captured in CCTV footage may have vital information that could assist the investigation.
“We are eager to speak with the woman pictured, as she may be able to help us understand the circumstances leading up to this violent incident,” said a BTP spokesperson.
