A major police incident is unfolding in Rushey Green, Catford, after two men were stabbed onboard a 54 bus shortly before 2pm today.
Police and emergency services, including London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, were called at 1:42pm to reports of a knife attack on the bus.
Two Men in Hospital
Both victims, believed to be in their 30s, sustained stab injuries and have been taken to hospital. Their current condition is unknown, and police have not yet confirmed if the injuries are life-threatening or life-changing.
Arrest Made for Attempted Murder
A man — whose age has not yet been disclosed — was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and affray. He remains in police custody, and enquiries are ongoing.
The bus remains inside a police cordon, and officers are expected to be at the location for several hours as part of the investigation.
Eyewitnesses Speak Out
An eyewitness told UK News in Pictures that the incident took place on the 54 bus, which had been travelling through Rushey Green when the violence broke out.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“At 13:42hrs on Tuesday, 1 July, Met officers, the London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance responded to reports of a stabbing in Rushey Green, Catford.
Two men in their 30s suffered stab wounds and have been taken to hospital.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and affray. He remains in custody. Several lines of enquiry are ongoing.”
