A Cal Fire captain has been tragically killed in a stabbing at a home in Ramona, San Diego County authorities have confirmed.
The victim, identified by family members as Capt. Rebecca Marodi, was found with multiple stab wounds inside a residence on Rancho Villa Road late Monday night.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDSO) were called to the home at approximately 9:00 PM following reports of an assault.
Despite efforts by first responders to revive her, Marodi was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or established a motive in the killing. Investigators are continuing to piece together the events leading up to the fatal attack.
Honoring a Dedicated Firefighter
Capt. Marodi had an extensive career with Cal Fire, serving on the front lines of wildfires across California.
A recent Instagram post highlighted her work on the Eaton Fire with Cal Fire Riverside’s Engine Company 83. In December 2022, she was publicly congratulated by Riverside County’s Hazmat team on her promotion.
Her loss has sent shockwaves through the firefighting community, with colleagues expressing their grief and admiration for her dedication and service.
