Firefighting operations have concluded at the scene of a bungalow fire on Mayfield Road in Herne Bay. The cause of the fire is not yet known, and there are no reported injuries.
Final Update: The “warn and inform” notice advising people to avoid the area has been lifted, and Mayfield Road has been reopened in both directions. Residents and motorists are thanked for their patience and cooperation.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) reduced the number of fire engines at the scene from six to four as crews continued to make good progress in extinguishing the fire.
KFRS was called to the scene of the fire early in the morning. Six fire engines were initially dispatched, and firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used high-pressure hose reel jets and main jets to tackle the flames. Partner agencies, including Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), were also on the scene.
Residents were initially advised to avoid the area due to road closures and the presence of emergency service vehicles.
The fire has now been fully extinguished, and the situation is under control. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
