A 23-year-old man from Brighton is set to appear in court this week charged with the rape of a woman in Sussex.
Jaden Standing, formerly of Bamford Close, Brighton, faces one count of rape following an investigation into an alleged incident that occurred in July 2024.
The victim, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, made a formal complaint to Sussex Police and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Arrest and Charges
Standing was arrested at a Brighton address in September 2024. Following further investigation, he was formally charged with rape and appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on June 2, 2025.
He is now scheduled to reappear at the same court on June 16 to answer the charge.
Ongoing Police Investigation
A spokesperson for Sussex Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, and further updates will be provided when appropriate.
"We understand how distressing these cases can be, and our specially trained officers are continuing to support the victim," the statement said.
Legal Note
As proceedings are active, the case is now subject to reporting restrictions under the Contempt of Court Act. Readers are reminded not to speculate publicly or online.
