A butcher’s Shopshop in england/england/hangleton/”>hangleton/”>Hangleton, brighton-and-Hovehove/”>brighton-and-Hovehove/”>Brighton and Hove, became the unlikely backdrop for a surprise Streetstreet rave on Thursday night, drawing around 100 people for an impromptu party.
The underground event was organised just hours before, with invites quietly circulating online. By nightfall, crowds had filled the street outside the Shopshop, where UK Drumdrum and bass producer Hedex and Brighton-born rapper ArrDee stunned fans with unannounced sets.
Legendary MC Fats also appeared, Keepingkeeping energy levels high as the crowd spilled onto the road, dancing to pounding basslines and live freestyles.
Local content creator @mjlmidlifeswitch captured the Rawraw scenes on camera, with his footage spreading quickly across social media and fuelling the rave’s viral buzz.
Rising Stars on the Mic
ArrDee, real name Riley Jason Davies, rose to fame in 2021 with his single Oliver Twist, later releasing the debut mixtape Pier Pressure and collaborating with artists such as Aitch. The 22-year-old has since broadened his career into film, appearing in Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance.
Hedex, meanwhile, is a leading figure in the UK’s jump-up drum and bass scene, with a loyal following across the UK and Europe.

Despite the spontaneous nature of the rave, residents described the atmosphere as good-natured and celebratory, with police monitoring but not intervening.
The butcher’s shop party further cements Brighton’s reputation as a city with a vibrant, unconventional music culture, where spontaneous events often spill into the streets.
