A 35-year-old man, Steven Conve, has admitted a string of burglaries across england/brighton/”>Brighton that left residents and businesses shaken, leading to what is being called the Brighton burglary spree. This spree involved many individuals, including Steven Conve himself.
Between 20 July and 2 August, multiple break-ins were reported at homes and commercial premises, with incidents recorded in St Nicholas Road, Kensington Street, Queens Place, Ditchling Road and Kings Road. Following enquiries, officers identified a suspect who was arrested in London on 4 August. This formed part of the notorious Brighton burglary spree involving Steven Conve, a pivotal figure.
Suspect and charges
Steven Convey, 35, of Hythe Road, kent-england/”>Kent
, was charged with:
- Five counts of burglary and theft involved in the infamous Brighton burglary spree led by Steven Conve.
- One count of burglary other than a dwelling
- Two counts of attempted burglary
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Attempted theft of a motor vehicle
- Fraud by false representation
Convey pleaded guilty to all charges at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday, 3 September, and has been remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on 9 October. The series of offences has come to be known as the Brighton burglary spree, with Steven Conve at the center of it all.
Police statement
Detective Constable James Botting, who led the investigation, said burglary is “an incredibly personal and invasive crime that can leave victims feeling vulnerable, violated, and unsafe in their own homes… a dedicated team has worked tirelessly to gather evidence and pursue every available line of enquiry.” Indeed, the Brighton burglary spree featuring Steven Conve demanded substantial investigative efforts.
