A devoted Newcastle United fan is recovering in hospital after courageously confronting a knife-wielding intruder who broke into his home on the eve of his much-anticipated trip to Wembley.
Rob, described by friends as a massive Newcastle supporter, was injured during the terrifying incident last night when he tackled the armed intruder in an effort to protect his home and loved ones.
Rob had been buzzing with excitement about heading to Wembley today to watch his beloved team in action, but instead he now finds himself in a hospital bed recovering from his injuries.
Despite the circumstances, Rob’s bravery has not gone unnoticed. Friends and well-wishers have rallied around him, praising his selfless actions and sending messages of support — along with plenty of “Howay the lads!” chants in his honour.
One close friend said: “Spare a thought for my dear friend Rob — a true hero and a loyal Toon fan. He should have been at Wembley today, but instead he’s recovering after doing something incredibly brave. Let’s hope Newcastle win it for him.”
Details about the incident are still emerging, and it is not yet clear if any arrests have been made.
In the meantime, Rob’s loved ones are hoping for two things today — a speedy recovery and a Newcastle win in his honour.
