A body has been discovered in the search for a missing 76-year-old woman from Northfleet, Kent Police have confirmed.
Officers were called to Town Pier in Gravesend around midday on Thursday, 24 April, where the body of a woman was recovered. While formal identification is yet to take place, the family of the missing woman — who had been reported missing since Monday, 7 April — has been informed of the development.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said:
“Officers searching for a missing woman from Gravesham attended Town Pier in Gravesend at around midday on Thursday 24 April 2025, where the body of a woman was located. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance remain unclear. However, police have ruled out foul play, and investigations into the cause of death are now in the hands of the coroner.
The case had prompted a community-wide appeal, with local residents and volunteers joining search efforts over recent weeks. Many took to social media today to express condolences and share tributes to the woman, described by neighbours as “kind” and “gentle-hearted.”
More information will be released once formal identification is completed.
