After an eight-week hiatus, BMW Motorrad Motorsport is revving up for the fourth round of the 2024 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK). The event is scheduled to take place from June 14th to 16th at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on the picturesque Italian Adriatic coast. With a successful start to the season, BMW Motorrad aims to continue its winning streak.
Toprak Razgatlioglu, the talented BMW Motorrad factory rider from the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, currently holds second place in the world championship standings. His impressive performance includes three wins and three additional podium finishes.
During the break, BMW Motorrad Motorsport remained active. The engineering team collaborated closely with the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK test team to enhance the BMW M 1000 RR package. The goal? To fine-tune performance and gain a competitive edge.
In mid-May, the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team conducted testing at Cremona (ITA) with factory riders Garrett Gerloff (USA) and Scott Redding (GBR). Their efforts laid a solid foundation for the upcoming Misano race weekend, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the track where WorldSBK will race for the first time in September.
A week later, the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, led by Razgatlioglu and teammate Michael van der Mark (NED), participated in the Misano test. These two days of testing were promising, setting the stage for the upcoming races at the same location.
Marc Bongers, Sporting Director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, expressed excitement about returning to action: “After the very long break, we can hardly wait to continue the WorldSBK season at Misano. The first three events of this year went very well for us. Following the positive and productive tests for the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team at Cremona and the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team at Misano, we are now very optimistic about the next race weekend. Additionally, Misano is a track where we have had successes in the past. We will give our all to be strong with the entire squad on the Adriatic coast and to score a lot of points for the world championship.”
