A man who was fatally stabbed outside a five-star London hotel during a violent attempted robbery has been named as Blue Stevens, a father from Yateley, Hampshire.
Mr Stevens was attacked late on Tuesday night (July 9) outside the Park Tower Hotel and Casino in Knightsbridge, reportedly while trying to fight off a masked man attempting to steal his Rolex watch.
Brutal Robbery Attempt in Upscale District
Emergency services were called to Seville Street, near Harvey Nichols and just metres from Harrods, shortly after the assault took place. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and trauma teams, Mr Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation, with forensic officers maintaining a cordon at the scene throughout Wednesday morning. No arrests have been confirmed at this time.
Witnesses Speak of ‘Chaotic’ Scene
Witnesses described seeing a man wearing a mask fleeing the area. Some reported that Mr Stevens’ partner was present during the attack, and was heard screaming for help as he attempted to fight off his assailant.
One witness, who had been visiting the casino, said:
“It all happened so fast. One minute he was standing there, the next he was on the ground. It was bloody and chaotic.”
Tributes to a ‘Protective and Loving Father’
Family and friends have since paid tribute to Blue Stevens online, describing him as a “loving father, partner and protector”. Floral tributes have begun appearing near the crime scene, with messages mourning the loss of a man described as “brave to the end.”
Police Appeal
Detectives from the Met’s Homicide Command are reviewing CCTV and are appealing for witnesses who were in the Knightsbridge or Seville Street area between 10pm and midnight on July 9.
