Aidan O’Keefe, 27, and Fergal Kane, 53, have appeared at Belfast Magistrates’ Court, facing charges in connection to the murder of Kevin Conway in west Belfast earlier this month.
The 26-year-old Conway lost his life after being shot multiple times at his residence on January 9. Notably, Conway had been on bail, charged with the murder of a man in a gang-related incident in Lurgan, Co Armagh, last year.
During the court proceedings, the judge implemented an interim restriction on the publication of the defendants’ home addresses due to concerns about potential risks to the accused individuals.
A police officer from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) revealed that both a shotgun and a handgun were deployed in the attack on Mr Conway. The detective chief inspector stated the connection of the accused to two cars believed to have been employed by the gunmen.
O’Keefe and Kane have been remanded in custody, with their next court appearance scheduled for February 20.
