BBC Two and iPlayer are set to bring the popular podcast Uncanny to the screen in a brand new series. Inspired by the BBC Sounds podcast of the same name, Uncanny delves into real-life stories of seemingly supernatural encounters, challenging viewers to question whether these experiences defy logical explanation or if there is another side to them.
Hosted by Danny Robins, the series will feature three episodes, with each episode investigating a new case and attempting to help those involved understand the events they experienced. Robins, known for his work on podcasts such as The Battersea Poltergeist and The Witch Farm, as well as his award-winning play 2:22 – A Ghost Story, will bring his expertise and storytelling skills to uncover the truth behind these mysterious encounters.
Assisting Robins in his investigations are Dr Ciarán O’Keeffe, a sceptic who brings a scientific perspective to the table, and parapsychologist Evelyn Hollow, who will analyse the details of each case to provide insight into what might have occurred. Together, they will explore the possibility of the supernatural and seek to unravel the mysteries surrounding each encounter.
Uncanny will not only present the stories but also encourage viewer engagement. Robins will invite viewers to share their own explanations and theories, and he will provide case updates where he explores these viewer theories. This interactive element adds an exciting dimension to the series, allowing viewers to contribute their perspectives and insights.
The series aims to spark debate and challenge preconceived notions about the existence of ghosts and the boundaries of what is considered possible. Viewers will be encouraged to join the conversation and decide for themselves whether they align with Team Believer or Team Sceptic.
With its intriguing subject matter and talented team of investigators, Uncanny promises to captivate audiences with its exploration of the unexplained. The series will premiere on BBC Two and iPlayer, bringing the eerie and enigmatic stories of the podcast to life on screen.
