Firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a barn fire on Bethersden Road, Shadoxhurst, in the early hours of Friday, November 8, 2024. The blaze, which broke out around 12:40 a.m., required five fire engines and a bulk water carrier at its peak to contain the flames.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a range of firefighting equipment, including main jets, high-pressure hose reel jets, compressed air foam systems (CAFs), and a fog spike to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control by 2:44 a.m.
The processing barn, which contained timber, a tractor, and two trailers, sustained significant damage, but there were no reported injuries. The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service has thanked residents in the area for their cooperation during the incident.
