In the ongoing Balham murder investigation, two arrested in connection to the case. A man has died following an assault on Balham High Road. Detectives have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of murder and a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Enquiries continue.
Police were called at around 15:40 on Sunday, 24 August to a report of a man assaulted on Balham High Road.
The victim — a 67-year-old man — was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries and sadly died on Friday, 5 September. His family are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Denby, from the Met’s South-West Specialist Crime team, said:
“This is an incredibly sad incident where a 67-year-old man has lost his life after being seriously assaulted following a dispute in england/the-Streetstreet/”>the street. We are working at pace on what is now a murder investigation.”
On Friday, 5 September, officers arrested:
- A 37-year-old man on suspicion of murder
- A 30-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder
Both remain in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing.
