A homicide investigation is underway after a mass shooting at a business park in Memphis left at least six people shot, including one person who was fatally wounded, authorities confirmed.
The Memphis Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at 3:29 p.m. in the 4000 block of South Mendenhall Road, a commercial area on the city’s southeast side. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple gunshot victims in what is now being treated as a major crime scene.
According to an official police bulletin, five male victims were transported from the scene—four with non-critical injuries and one in critical condition. A sixth male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not yet released the identities of the victims or any details regarding a possible suspect or motive. The investigation remains active, and officers are continuing to gather evidence from the scene and speak with potential witnesses.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” the department said in a statement shared on social media. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact 901-528-CASH with anonymous tips.
Residents in the area have expressed concern and frustration over the rising gun violence in the city. “It’s heartbreaking,” one local business owner said. “You try to work and live your life, and now this happens right around the corner.”
As of Thursday evening, no arrests have been announced.
Memphis police are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any information that may aid in solving this case.
