Northamptonshire Police has formally appointed Ash Tuckley as its new Deputy Chief Constable following a rigorous three-stage selection process at Wootton Hall.
Ash, who has been serving as temporary Deputy Chief Constable since June 2024, now officially takes on the role permanently. He has been with Northamptonshire Police for over 20 years, working across a variety of operational and leadership roles.
Speaking after his appointment was confirmed on 6 May, Ash said:
“I’m deeply honoured to be now taking on the Deputy role in a permanent capacity. Northamptonshire Police has been in my blood for more than 20 years and I’m very proud to be taking on this senior role.”
Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet praised Ash’s leadership, saying:
“Ash came through what was a very challenging process. I look forward to working even more closely with him.”
Ash’s extensive career has seen him serve in neighbourhood policing, response, hostage and crisis negotiation, and the Force Control Room. He is a Specialist Strategic Firearms and Public Order Gold Commander and is Multi-Agency Incident Commander trained.
In 2023/24, Ash completed the Executive Leadership Programme before becoming Assistant Chief Constable, leading Local Policing and Specialist Operations. As DCC, he will now oversee Professional Standards, Corporate Communications, major incident responses, and daily Force operations.
