Warwickshire Police are urgently appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision involving a police vehicle in Nuneaton, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
The incident occurred at approximately 8.45pm on Friday, 13 September, when a police vehicle responding to an emergency call collided with a male pedestrian on the B4113 Coventry Road, between the junction of Gipsy Lane and the Griff Roundabout.
The pedestrian, identified as a man in his 60s, suffered a severe head injury in the collision. Despite immediate efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s next of kin have been informed.
The two officers in the police vehicle were unharmed.
As is standard procedure when fatalities occur during police activity, the incident has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC). The IOPC has initiated an independent investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
Warwickshire Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who may have dashcam footage of the collision.
