Police are urging witnesses and potential victims to come forward following a serious assault at Abbey Wood underground station. The incident took place around 12.15am on Friday, December 22,
The victim, who was on board a train travelling between Canary Wharf and Abbey Wood, observed a man displaying aggressive behaviour towards a woman. Reacting responsibly, the victim intervened to de-escalate the situation, eventually leaving the train at Abbey Wood station. The man causing the disturbance also concluded his journey at this station.
Upon exiting the station, the same man directed aggression towards a group of women outside. Once again, the initial victim attempted to defuse the situation but was subsequently assaulted by the man. Law enforcement has taken a man in his 20s into custody in connection with the incident.
As the investigation progresses, officers believe there might be an additional man and woman who were victims of an assault by the same individual at Abbey Road station. Authorities are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed these incidents, experienced any form of assault, or possesses information crucial to the investigation.
