Authorities in Greenock are seeking the public’s assistance after a deliberate act of fire-raising occurred in the early hours of Sunday, June 30, 2024. Emergency services responded to a fire within the common close of a block of flats on Dellingburn Street.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service promptly extinguished the blaze, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the incident remains a serious concern, and investigators are actively pursuing leads.
Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie, from Greenock CID, emphasised the gravity of the situation: “Thankfully, nobody was harmed due to this dangerous and reckless act. Our extensive inquiries are ongoing, and we are determined to identify those responsible.”
Beattie urged anyone with relevant information to come forward: “If you witnessed anything suspicious or have information that could assist us, please get in touch. Additionally, we are interested in private CCTV, dash-cam footage, or video doorbell recordings.”
