Tragedy struck on Saturday, March 23, when a road traffic collision at the Barugh Green crossroad junction in Barnsley resulted in the loss of two lives. The incident involved multiple vehicles, including a white Suzuki and a grey Range Rover.
According to reports, the collision was severe, impacting several other vehicles. Two victims, a 75-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to the fatalities, seven other individuals sustained injuries. While these injuries were serious, they were thankfully not life-threatening.
The authorities responded to the incident, and a 65-year-old man was taken into custody. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
South Yorkshire Police are now appealing to the public for any information related to this collision, the public are urged to call 101 and quote incident number 490 of March 23, 2024 when providing information.
