Police Scotland Road Policing Officers are seeking information from the public after a fatal road crash occurred on the A92 near Rathillet on Tuesday, 3 October 2023.
At approximately 13.25, a collision transpired involving a Mercedes B-class driven by a 73-year-old woman, a lorry operated by a 62-year-old man, and a Nissan Qashqai driven by a 65-year-old man.
Despite the prompt response from emergency services, the 73-year-old woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The other drivers involved in the collision did not require medical treatment.
Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick, leading the investigation, emphasised the ongoing nature of the inquiry as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. He urged any witnesses to the crash or individuals on the road around the time of the collision, especially those with dash-cam footage, to come forward.
Initial inquiries indicate the presence of a white car on the road shortly before the crash. Sergeant Kirkpatrick appealed to the driver of this car, asking them to contact the authorities as their information could prove valuable to the investigation.
