Police Scotland has launched an appeal for information regarding a distressing incident involving the assault and robbery of a taxi driver in Perth. The incident occurred on Sunday, 10th September 2023, and investigators are eager to gather details from potential witnesses.
Around midday, between 11:30 and noon, an 86-year-old male taxi driver had dropped off a male customer in the car park area outside Potterhill Gardens Flats, located in Perth. It was at this location that the perpetrator assaulted the taxi driver and forcefully demanded money.
The elderly taxi driver was left profoundly shaken by this traumatic event, prompting swift action by the authorities. Police Constable Hoskins commented on the incident, stating, “The taxi driver was left extremely shaken by this incident. Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are keen to trace a member of the public who intervened in the incident.”
Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with the individual who intervened during the incident, as their account could be invaluable to the ongoing investigation. Additionally, anyone else with information related to the assault and robbery is strongly encouraged to come forward.
