Road policing officers are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding a tragic incident that occurred on the A716 Cornerhouse to Drummore road near Ardwell. The incident, which took place around 20.30 BST on Friday, October 20, involved a white Mini Cooper.
Emergency services promptly responded to the scene, however, despite their efforts, a 35-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle sadly lost her life. Her next of kin have been notified and are receiving support during this difficult time.
In order to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, the road has been temporarily closed to allow for thorough investigation work to take place.
Sergeant David Kerr, leading the investigation, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasised that the police are actively pursuing all leads to determine the full details of the incident.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the woman who tragically lost her life. Our team is working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident,” said Sergeant Kerr.
He also appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or possesses dash-cam footage that could assist in the investigation to come forward and contact the authorities.
“We are particularly interested in speaking to individuals who were traveling on the A716 in the time leading up to the crash. Your information, be it footage or any other details, could be invaluable to our investigation,” added Sergeant Kerr.
