Dr. Edward Finn, a 36-year-old anaesthetist, has been sentenced to an extended 12-year prison term after pleading guilty to a series of sexual offences involving children and adults. The sentencing took place at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Finn’s crimes spanned several years, occurring between July 2015 and November 2023. His charges included:
- Sexual Assault of a Child: Finn admitted to sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 by touching.
- Indecent Photographs of Children: He faced three counts of making indecent photographs of children and three counts of taking indecent photographs of children.
- Voyeurism: Finn was charged with two counts of voyeurism. One related to an unknown woman patient at Derby Royal Infirmary in July 2015, where he secretly recorded images beneath her clothing without her consent. The other voyeurism charge involved an adult known to him.
The court imposed an extended sentence of eight years in custody and a four-year extension. Additionally, Finn is now subject to the following orders:
- Sex Offenders’ Register: He must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.
- Sexual Harm Prevention Order: An indefinite order to prevent further sexual harm.
- Restraining Order: An indefinite order restricting his contact with victims.

However, anyone who believes they are a victim of crime is encouraged to report it to the police or call Crimestoppers anonymously.
