Police renew witness appeal as woman dies in hospital following multi-vehicle crash near Knook
A second person has tragically died following a serious road traffic collision on the A36 near Knook, Wiltshire, which occurred on Saturday, 31 May 2025.
Second Fatality Confirmed
Wiltshire Police have confirmed that a woman in her 60s, who was riding pillion on one of the motorcycles involved in the collision, has died in hospital from injuries sustained in the crash. Her next of kin have been informed, and police extended their condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.”
The first victim, Robert Best, 62, from Bradley Stoke, was declared dead at the scene. His family previously described him as “loved and adored by all who knew him.”
Collision Details
The crash involved three motorcycles and a car and occurred at around 10.30am on the A36 at Knook, a rural stretch between Warminster and Heytesbury.
Emergency services responded swiftly, but the severity of the crash resulted in multiple casualties.
Police Investigation Continues
Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT) is continuing enquiries and has renewed calls for witnesses or dashcam footage.
“If you witnessed the collision and we haven’t yet spoken to you, we urge you to come forward,” a spokesperson said.
