A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision on the A303 near Mere on Sunday 29 June.
Nicholas Blackbeard, 66, of Cok Ngurah, Gambir, Bali, has been charged with:
- Causing death by dangerous driving
- Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
The charges relate to a multi-vehicle crash involving a Citroën C5 and three motorcycles on the Charnage Hill section of the A303 at approximately 10:30am.
One Motorcyclist Killed
Tragically, one of the motorcyclists—a man in his 60s—was declared dead at the scene. Another rider sustained serious injuries.
Emergency services responded quickly to the incident, but despite their efforts, the fatality was confirmed on site.
Court Proceedings Underway
Blackbeard appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 1 July, where he was granted bail.
He is scheduled to appear at Salisbury Crown Court on 30 July for a plea hearing.
Wiltshire Police say their investigation remains ongoing, and officers are continuing to gather evidence.
