Drivers are being warned to expect major changes on the A3 near Wisley starting next week, as a contraflow system is set to be introduced on both the northbound and southbound carriageways between M25 Junction 10 and Ockham Park roundabout.
Under the new system:
- Northbound A3: Three lanes will be open for northbound traffic and one lane for southbound traffic.
- Southbound A3: Two running lanes will be open for southbound traffic.
The contraflow will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is expected to remain in place until the end of the year.
Important advice for HGV drivers:
On the northbound A3, heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) are not permitted to use the far right-hand lane (Lane 3).
For southbound drivers, once past the M25 exit:
- lane 1 (inside lane) will serve HGVs, traffic exiting at Ockham Park roundabout, visitors to RHS Wisley, and traffic continuing south on the A3.
- lane 2 (middle lane) will be for non-HGV traffic only continuing towards Guildford, with no option to exit at Ockham Park.
Additionally, a weekend closure has been announced:
- The northbound A3 exit slip road and the clockwise (westbound) M25 entry slip road at Junction 10 will be closed from 9pm on Friday 9 May to 6am on Monday 12 May 2025.
- The main A3 and M25 routes, along with all other slip roads, will remain open during this time.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys in the affected area.
