In a heartbreaking incident, a 17-year-old boy Ronalds Abele, from Wellingborough lost his life after a drowning incident in the town. Emergency services responded swiftly to the distress call.
The Incident:
On Friday, May 10, just after 13:45 police, paramedics, and fire crews rushed to the scene at the Embankment in Wellingborough. Reports indicated that the teenager had encountered difficulties while swimming in open water. Despite the valiant efforts of the rescue teams, the situation took a devastating turn.
Recovery and Transport:
Firefighters from Rushden and Irthlingborough, along with a specialised unit from Mereway, worked tirelessly to recover the young boy. Once retrieved from the water, he was immediately airlifted to Northampton General Hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
Identity Revealed:
The Northamptonshire Police spokesperson expressed deep sorrow, stating, “This was a tragic incident, and Ronalds’ family has requested privacy during this incredibly distressing time.”
