Armed Robbery Shocker in Berwick: 52-Year-Old Arrested Hours After Post Office Raid

Robbery Sparks Fast Police Action

A 52-year-old man from Seaford was arrested today following a brazen armed robbery at Berwick Post Office on Station Road. The crime unfolded around 3 PM on October 17, sparking a swift police response. The suspect fled the scene but was caught just hours later.

Suspect Caught with Firearm

The man is now in custody, suspected not only of robbery but also of possession of a firearm. Detective Inspector Steve Shimmons confirmed no other suspects are being sought. “The investigation is ongoing, but we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection to the robbery,” he said.

Community Reassured Amid Police Presence

Police have ramped up patrols in Berwick overnight to calm nerves. “I’d like to thank residents for their patience during the initial stages of this incident,” Shimmons added.

Meanwhile, the main road through the village, which was closed for several hours, has now reopened.
